Went for a morning walk along the river. This time of year you have to be vigilant for crocodiles, didn't spot any.

Back from the store. I picked up a three-pound tray of 85/15 ground turkey. I plan on substituting it for ground beef in Hamburger Helper. At $3.33 / lb., it beats ground beef at twice the price.

We've had at least two fatal crocodile attacks locally this year, IIRC. This time of year is particularly hazardous - heavy rainfall leads to flooding, which often pushes them out into the bay where people don't expect them to be, and heavy monsoon season vegetation gives them cover in wetlands around the rivers. That and the propensity for some to swim after sunset, or swim in (well marked) areas where they congregate...

An Aussie friend of ours from the Northern Territory says a surefire way to determine if there are crocodiles in a particular body of water is to stick your hand in the water then pull it out. If your hand is wet, there are crocs.
