Exist vs. Real
#11
RE: Exist vs. Real
Big difference between something being invisible and something that people cannot see. Being invisible implies that there are no colour pigments, or that the thing cannot reflect light. Since pink can refleck light (pink light), a creature cannot be both invisible and pink.

Everyone,

I know in my heart that she is pink; the fact that she is invisible is imaterial. Blessed be her hooves!

@Adrian,

Please respect my beliefs! All this logic is muddying the issue! It is hard for an intelligent person to understand why she is such, but of such she is! You cannot disprove that she is both invisible and pink and I know that she is both because it makes sense! Tongue Wink

Trouble with that is it requires a re-definition of the word "real" ... IMO, things that exist in the mind still exist as thought. That is still detectable and the technology, although currently in very early stages, is being developed to visualise thought.

Thoughts are physical. Hence the FSM exists physically as an idea stored in the brain!!

The FSM exists! (as an idea stored physically within the brain), the FSM exists! (as an idea stored physically within the brain). Hooray!

So even though the IPU is a contradiction - even contradictions can exist within the brain. So therefore despite being a logical contradiction the IPU still exists (as an idea stored physically within the brain).

Hooray! I've proved the IPU! I've not absolutely proved it, mind - I'm agnostic about this (although I'm not absolutely sure about that Wink).

Actually it doesn't require a redefinition of anything, I looked up the dictionary.com definitions of both words and simply pointed out the differences from my perspective. Neither definition was altered from the book to come to my conclusion.

Wanna bet I can't come up with a different definition form a different online source? Dictionaries are meaningless when it comes to contentious areas like these.

He exists physically as an idea in the brain, fr0d0. Not separately from that as an actual deity in the external universe - in any shape or form (as far as we know anyway Wink (he almost certainly doesn't exist Tongue)).
