I can't seem to make it work with Mint. Capturing or using the upload feature of Youtube does work with Windows but the Logitech led just stays lit and I cant see anything in Kino.
Mine works perfectly. Have you installed the drivers? (Silly question I know...but...)

Which driver did you use? it does give a (dark) picture in aMSN, and I can see movement so it does work, but still nothing in Kino or when I want to use the upload feature in Youtube.

Different chip? Different (non-generic) driver required?

RE: Which Linux?
Well there are different drivers for different makes of camera:

sudo apt-get install gpsca-source

Quote:The gpsca video for linux (v4l) driver, provides support for webcams and digital cameras based on the spca5xx range of chips manufactured by SunPlus, Sonix, Z-star, Vimicro, Conexant, Etoms, Mars-semi, Pixart and Transvision.

sudo apt-get install ov51x-jpeg-source

Quote:This driver works with webcams that use an ov511, ov518 and ov519 chip. This includes the Eye Toy, the Hercules Webcam Classic, some SpaceCam 320 and many others. Contrary to the original driver, this driver has in place JPEG decompression which make the ov519 cameras work as required.

sudo apt-get install qc-usb-source

Quote:This package provides the source code for the quickcam kernel module for Logitech's QuickCam Express webcam and similar webcams. This driver supercedes the qce-ga driver.

Just pick the one that covers your camera and check everything works (I use cheese to check webcams).

Okay, QC is what I have installed and in Xawtv I have a picture and I can adjust the brightness a little so I have a better picture. So in that sense it works. Only I am still not able to directly to Youtube through the flash capture. It still says it can't find a cam.

That's a problem with flash then. Have you tried changing your flash settings?

The flash setings say that it can't find a camera. Cheese also works.

Ok, well that means it is a problem with the miserable excuse for a flash driver that Adobe give us to work with. Adobe have always had problems delivering decent flash drivers for Linux, but I think that might be about to change; they've put a lot of work into Adobe Air for Linux, and the debut of Firefox 3.5 (with HTML 5 video / audio) will hopefully force them to make better drivers.

EDIT: Click! Oh I get it ... "cheese" as in "say cheese" ... doh!
