I'm willing to listen if they want to tell.

If they weren't so preachy about their preaching then all would be fine. Tongue

Let them be. I'm sure they are of good will.

There's no problem with christians, or people of any religion, joining this forum. I just wish I knew if they were here to discuss things, or if they're just flocking en masse to preach. It's simple curiosity that started this thread. It's not some kind of anti-theist witch hunt.
What falls away is always, and is near.

Also, I am not pretending to be female, this profile picture is my wonderful girlfriend. XD

Good will is no excuse for ignorance and preaching.

Besides, how can we be so sure that you are sure?

We do ban people who preach you know. We have a sort of three strikes policy. If they preach once, we warn them and tell them not to. If they do it again, they get the same. If they do it a third time, and it becomes clear that they have no wish to change, we ban them for good.

I'm not saying you don't. I'm just agreeing with the OP that there has been a large amount of 'preachy types' coming in. Intent on telling us we are wrong yet not listening to arguments against.

Doesn't that sound like a pretty good deal? Big Grin

It DOES seem like a pretty good deal ......... if you're a masochistic sheep who likes letting a self-absorbed genocidal dictator bend you ever for the rest of eternity.

no thank you ... I'll just have the salad.

My point is, there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop theists from registering an account. If you want to help us combat the theists who come here just to preach, here is what you should do:

  1. Find every post of theirs that contains preaching and report it. Note: Preaching is not simply them sharing their beliefs; that is called discussion. Preaching is when someone demands / urges others to accept / comply with their beliefs, and refuses to discuss the merits of them. To clarify with an example:

    Not Preaching:
Quote:More prayers for each post thank you! God bless

    Preaching:
Quote:After getting to know some of you my heart is deeply saddened. Most of you scream with a hate unknown to most men, trying to displace your inner hurt upon others. The Lord is my shield. He can be yours too. I hope you all find peace and love, you are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. Ask Jesus into your hearts and give Him a chance. God Bless

Someone praying for you is not preaching. Someone telling you to go pray, is.

  2. DO NOT RESPOND. It astounds me when so many people complain about someone trolling or preaching, and yet when I visit the posts in question, I find that the same people have responded again and again to them. Just as you shouldn't feed the trolls, please don't feed the preachers. This should also apply to spam posts, since we often delete them from view, so your posts are made completely irrelevant. If you think a post breaks the rules, report it, and then ignore it.

  3. If things are really bothering you, put people on ignore. This means that their posts will be hidden from you. To put someone on ignore, go to their profile and click "Add to Ignore List".

I took me six months on these forums just to figure that these forums gave me the chance to vent out some of my life-long frustration with religion.

Now I realize that what can at first be somewhat therapeutic can easily turn into a caustic environment. On occasion I still wrestle with it, as I have always been a little rough around the edges - even with my friends, the atheists/deists, but the realization in itself has aided me in practicing what Tiberius has aforementioned. Which is practicing restraint and ignoring the ignorant.

Good luck to all of you in finding your own unique balance.

I love all the new christian members.

Every time one of them joins, I look smarter.

What say you, christians? Is there some kind of conspiracy here? (Not that I expect you to tell me if there is, lol.)

Atheists- am I wrong? I don't often check the member introductions, aside from during the last few days. Are there always so many Christians joining, or is this weird?

This is a sign of the End of Days and that Jesus wants as many souls saved as possible so the righteous like myself have been feel compelled to hunt out the unbelievers and spread the good word that Jesus wants to be your friend before it's too late.

Paul was telling everyone that it was going to happen within his lifetime. What happened there?
