Does Atheism Need to be Rebranded?

I don't understand. What, position is that and what facts?

MY [atheist] position is most certainly not based on fact. It is based on a lack of belief due to the absence of credible evidence (proof) I think that is the antithesis of a fact based position.

Atheism is about a lack of belief, period, its implies NOTHING about knowledge, makes no claims.

We're not a group. As individuals, we have all the power to join groups and take on the government all we want.

Human rights advocates, educational lobbies, lawyers etc. That being said, Mogul does have a point.....perhaps we should hire some lawyers?

There is absolutely no reason for atheists to unite in any way for the sake of atheism. It is not a fucking religion. Now, if someone wants to start atheistianity and unite under that name, have at it. I do hope, however, while they go about taking some imagined stand, they don't say things like "we atheists," because I'm not part of any atheist club and , if I was, I would make it clear that the club and atheism are two very different things.

Then shouldn't you be in favor of the "Bright" rebranding. The politically active, unified, anti-religion crusading atheists can refer to themselves as brights and you can continue referring to yourself as an atheist without any worry of assumed association.

Not at all. Then, it is not a "rebranding" of anything. It is a political group created by some silly atheists.

Why be so like the religions you so hate? Why be anti-religious? I'll never understand. Sure, be anti-hate, anti-rape, anti-religious war, but anti-religion?

Maybe because a lot of that stuff comes from religion and anti-religion makes for a much more concise and focused approach.

You mentioned a few good reasons to be anti-religion there Shell, immediately preceding the question. Still, I don't think that I'll be joining any atheist league anytime soon.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

No. I gave very good reasons not to be anti-religious. Besides, what the hell does being like certain religions have to do with anti-religion? Might as well be fucking neo-religion.

That stuff would exist without religion. Religion is just an excuse. People will find another excuse.

They would, have, and will again. Still, there's nothing wrong with being the guy to stand up and call bullshit about whatever excuse they offer Shell....
