I was born an atheist. Over the years I studied the world reasonably extensively as interested me. Never even once has any putative explanation by deity even manage take even a single small step towards demonstrate even a pretense of unique predictive power that must be the hallmark of any explanation based on fundamental understanding. In short no theist, whatever his theological credential, proponding on a theist position have ever demonstrate any indications of knowing what the fuck he is talking about.

So I remain an atheist because theism is garbage for which there is not the slightest need.

I started out as an atheist, was quickly indoctrinated into Catholicism. Didn't go to church much. I started shifting towards Deist, then eventually became an agnostic as I began to research various religions and scientific topics and my religious classmates at the time made fools of themselves whenever the topic popped up. I just kind of drifted to atheist from agnostic, as agnosticism seemed too much like dodging the question. Atheism seemed more honest, I suppose.

I was born this way. I can't recall ever believing in god.

I'm not even sure I know what I believe any more. My son asked me today how people got on earth.
I paused for some time ....
and then I told him I didn't know because I didn't want to tell him that I believe in a creator of some sort.

It kinda shook me to my core.
Who am I to put biased unfounded ideas into my little boy's head?
I want him to grow up free of the god paranoia, and since my god requires no worship and only sets the wheels in motion ... why not let him be an atheist if he so chooses?


The whole fucking thing is pointless and stupid. What the fuck difference does it make??? Who cares where we came from!? We get 80 short years on this rock if we're lucky, and spending time indoctrinating ourselves and our kids with unproven ideas is just a huge fucking waste of time and energy. Look at the christians ... even the smart ones look like god damn imbeciles trying to convince people of their magical fairy in the sky.


I guess I'm just god damn sick of having this tired old struggle always sitting in the back of my head. I don't fucking want it anymore.

I think the more appropriate question is 'Why do people believe in god or gods?'

I was born an atheist and have always been one. It isn't something I could stop by choice.
