Isn't the humanism though? Atheism includes Buddhism and they follow a strict path.

That's why I chose the word "opportunity". It does not magically open your eyes to the things I said previous, but it does give you the opportunity to pursue them.

EDIT: @Ace: I do try and get through. No reason not to try and if they learn anything, I've done well.
What relevance has that got to do with anything I've said? Again the arrogance of some atheists is astonishing, are you seriously trying to equate atheism with intelligence and suggest anyone of faith is unintelligent? If you are, ironically it shows how unintelligent you are! This caricatured version of Christianity that you persist in peddling is tiresome.

The stupidity of this one is amazing. I wonder if he even read Annik's post.

Grown adults believing in fairytales sure doesn't lend much credibility to their intelligence, but that's beside the point.
Exactly in what way did you draw that conclusion from her point? She never said atheism=intelligence. Lacking a sky-daddy to threaten us with punishment if we don't enact a "holy ideal" or be a cog in his "big plan," we're free to self-actualize.

The stupidity of this one is amazing. I wonder if he even read Annik's post.
OK lets follow this through.
1.Annik claims to be in total control of his/her life.
Quote:when you understand you're completely in charge of your life
2.I argue that is delusional (mainly because there are so many factors in life that we are unable to control) I use St.Francis of Assissi as a good example of a wiser outlook.
3.Annik goes off on one about fairytales?? How does that address the issue that beleving you are in total control of your life is delusional? Stay on topic, atheists do this all the time, go off on rants about straw man versions of Christianity to avoid the topic at hand!

Where did she mention anything about intelligence you arrogant piece of shit? Anyway, the OP is contemplating suicide and only a mentally deranged person would take this as an opportunity to throw trash gutter snipes at atheism. Your stupid antics are crying out to be put on ignore and I hear them and will comply.

So a more rational way of dealing with life is to let some long dead Canaanite tell you how to live it?
You are the one creating a strawman. Try and find the flaws in your own arguments before you attempt to do it with others.

Really it's pathetic and tired, all this "fairytales" & "skydaddy" rantings, sounds like truculent first year undergrads angry at the world, probably listening to Marilyn Manson and convinced they are being different

Oi! I believe I already said to tone it down in here. Stat number 2, you're being insulting. Therefore, the insults that get flung back at you are warranted. The rest of you, stop stooping to his level, please. I hate babysitting duty. Stay on topic.

Speechless...I get called an "asshole" a "sick fuck" etc and I'm the one being insulting? Please quote one instance of me giving an insult to anyone. I hope any neutral readers of these threads can see exactly whats going on here.
