Facing the Morally Bad Future

RE: Facing the Morally Bad Future
Stop being a bloody wooose FTR Just go about YOUR business and to hell with anyone else (assuming you are not deliberately hurting anyone) If this offends any of your friends then that is their problem not yours.

I wish I could agree, but it's all of our problem that people get offended that their fairy tales are questioned, that they make decisions on life and friendship based on said fairy tales.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

In the bolded: this is the underlying moral dilemma I have though. By telling them the truth about myself, am I then deliberately hurting them because I knew of the discussions that would follow? The ones in question are the ones that might get a little shaky with their faith.

This tells me you're insecure in your unbelief. You are afraid that God is so strong in their lives, none of them will deconvert and cause you to pause and think about where you are in your life. It's unfair not to tell them, you are being deceitful with those you call friends, I think you know how strong their faith is and you're scared of that kind of strength.

If they choose an imaginary friend (something that isn't real) over someone who is (and a friend above all else), is no friend of yours.
Good riddance to them if that's how they feel about it.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Bullshit mate!! So you will NOT tell them the truth about yourself to "save" their hurt feelings?? LIAR!

Either way you are screwed!! So much for this religious nonsense. Fuck em ! >>> you are the way you are and if they have a problem with that then you can go and find some people who do not have issue with who you ARE!

The biggest problem is the ability we have of selling ourselves short just to stay with "community" When we realise that said "community" is detrimental with our health and well being we should LEAVE... wishing no harm to them but we MUST leave for our own health.

Is it really that important to tell them you no longer believe?

I guess I'm not being selfish by not wanting to be oppressed by this lifestyle anymore... So just come out with it?

I can't keep pretending to believe whenever we have small talk and God comes up in every 5th sentence.

See here's my situation very briefly:

Prior to starting to question my faith, I was going about life as a reborn Christian doing his thing for God. What does that entail exactly? Being a member of the worship team at church, being a member of a Christian-only band with aspirations to make it big, missionary work, dreams to start a family that lives for God, bible study group member, 'life group' member... every last detail about me relies on the Bible. So in a way this whole time I was building my future up and when my world turned upside down I now realise I've dug myself the deepest hole possible.

Yes, telling them that I don't want some of these things in my life i.e. I don't believe is absolutely crucial for me to stay sane.
