Why Secular Morality is Superior

Still la complete stuffwit I see. ( I have El Orto on ignore)

THIS atheist is a moral relativist. I do not allow others to decide my moral values, recognising no external or transcendent moral authority.

No, I depend on my teddy bear to tell me what's moral and what's not. So whatever my teddy bear says is OBJECTIVELY moral. And the good thing about my teddy bear is there is no contradiction unlike the Christian God. If in fact our morality comes from God, he must be a schizophrenic. His own Bible paints him out to be the most immoral beast that ever breathes.

Quote:Sounds like an easy out to me. There is no reprisals or reparations required. Imagine if the criminal justice system worked by the same standards.

..., so you're saying taking time with yourself and having a complete change of heart is an easy way out? I don't see that. You make a lifelong commitment and truly an your heart fulfill it.

If one does the right thing, does it matter where they got their morality from?

I'm tired of Christians and Atheists saying someone who does the right thing did not really do the right thing just because it did not come from their own beliefs.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

Exactly who gets to decide what's the 'right thing?

I'm tired of sanctimonious twats presuming to set the moral standards for others.

Umm,did I just agree with you? Thinking

That problem is almost exclusively the problem of religious people. I'm more familiar with Christians being guilty of this. They like to say that atheists have no right to decide if something is immoral because atheists didn't get their morality from God. Of course, I'd like to tell them they're true idiots for talking rot but they're so stupid nothing penetrates their skull.

The injustice of what Christians usually say in forums makes me want to scream. It's so bloody insane and they don't seem to realize it. In a perfect world, many Christians in forums would be thrown into a padded cell.

I'm with you there about how tiresome it is to insist on a source for morality. But you are wrong. Atheists are never guilty of this. They might resort to talking about where morality comes from as a REACTION to Christians who insist that atheists have no right to decide on morality because they don't derive their moral rules from God. It's the insanity of Christians that brings all this up.

I've seen so many unjust and insane (it's always insane for religious folks) things Christians say of atheists that if I could write it all in a book, it'll run into several volumes. When our Lord says we should see the beam in our own eyes and not the speck in another's eyes, he meant it SOLELY for us self-righteous Christian bastards. Cool Shades

You have to take time with yourself? How much? Is there a specified period of self-reflection before you can become a Christian?

Even if there was, it'd still be an easy out. You know, the way drunk drivers who simply get sent to rehab have an easy out. Or the violent aggressor who get sent to rage management get an easy out. These are the easiest outs given by the law and yours is even easier is that.

And what's this about "lifelong" commitment? Are you telling me that once you become a Christian you never commit an evil act? And if its a deathbed conversion, that lifelong commitment isn't very long.

Anyway you slice it, it's an easy out.

It started with the Protestant Christians in particular, but I am seeing a growing number of Atheists borrowing from this.

This statement alone is like a haiku of stupid.

Your vapidity is matched with the peanut-butter smeared madness apparent in your posts.
Time to get your left hand back onto the keyboard and take the advice of your fellow deists.
