We have an adorable dog, as much food as we want to eat, good friends, plenty of hobbies and parents who care about us. I drive a sporty little fuel economic car that I love, and he drives a sports car that he loves. We have travel plans and hopes and dreams.

Am I supposed to martyr myself on the horrors I don't have to experience?

A human life is only a moment on a geological scale. What of it?

Having all you could ever need or want doesn't mean you'll appreciate that you have it, or understand what led up to it. I don't know why celebs or many other people kill themselves. I suspect it's quite individual to each person. I doubt it's always because they feel some existential crisis of being.

And I do believe I spoke about contributing to the future - that's a little more than living in the moment. I'm a gardener - gardeners live on tree time scales, not from party to party.
