Born this way, baby

One thing we have just learned about catfish's meatspace life; he is not a scientist.

With that out of the way, wanna tell us why it's an abomination to be gay, dude? Well, actually, you just said it ain't normal initially, but your position seems to have intensified since then. I genuinely would like to know, because it's hard to have a debate where only one side is willing to furnish their position.

For my part, I think there's a genetic component, but it's not the be all and end all of sexuality. But then, I also see sexuality as a scale, not a binary, so... well, when determining whether or not it's a sin, that social component doesn't matter. If there's a genetic side to this- and all the research points to this- then if there is a god that caused this to be while still considering it sinful, then that's pretty fucked up.

Besides, abomination or not, that's a religious argument, and hence not exactly proven. I wonder if someone could even come up with a secular argument against homosexuality?

Well, that's where the science comes in. The fundies desperately try to use a medium they otherwise disparage in order to prove their own bigotry. A scientific argument - and argument grounded in science - would in their minds have to be accepted by the secular set.

Which of course makes me wonder what scientific conclusion they think will help them. Even if sexuality is entirely a choice, the idea that it's evil doesn't magically become a secular position too. Lots of things are choices, it doesn't follow that all choices are evil. From where I'm standing there's literally no way for the religious ideal of immoral homosexuality to bridge the gap into the secular mindset.

That's where you're both wrong. Abomination is an opinion, from a perspective as illustrated by the guy in the video. I have every right to view something as an abomination (disgusting) if I so choose and it has nothing to do with religion.
My reason? I wouldn't put my hand in shit and be OK with it, why the fuck would I stick my dick in it?
So to me, it's an abomination, fucking deal with it!

I don't give a fuck what you don't want to stick your dick in, only what your religion wants to dictate to the rest of us.

You obviously have no concept of how gay sex works. It is customary for homosexual men, unless they have a fetish for feces, to make sure he is clean before engaging in the act of anal sex. The most preferred method of cleaning the rectum is with an enema. And as far as your apparent ignorance is concerned, I do not have to deal it.

It took several pages of posts to get to "sodomy is icky"?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

You know, that's fine. I'm sure that gay people might not find straight sex so glamorous either. Just so long as you recognize that your opinion doesn't constitute a binding concept that should restrict the rights of others... whatever.

I feel like I need to point this out: catfish, you know that dick that you use to fuck women? The dick that you stick inside them? You remember that you piss out of that, right?

So let's not pretend that straight sex is any more clean than gay sex is. They're both a little bit gross. Tongue

That is irrelevant to the thread topic.
