Some news reports are still asserting that a person of interest is being guarded in a hospital with severe burns...who just happens to be a Saudi national here on a student visa...

Well, A Theist, this is America, where every brown person that can be found becomes a "person of interest" right after the shit hits the fan, so I don't take much stock in that report.

Glad to hear Shell is okay. My wife's uncle finished the race twenty minutes before the explosion and he and his family left just ten minutes before it happened.

I'll never understand what drives people to commit such a cowardly act.

So my coworker is pissed because cops are patroling the area and asking for identification papers after such an event and he is calling it a "police state". Because in the midst of investigating a crime like this, apparently no one should be asked to identify themselves and police shouldn't be involved.

If I did, I would've said "we know that..." instead of "I can't help but speculate that..."

Apparently no one has yet claimed responsibility for it and it's almost 24 hours later.

Would I be right in thinking that it's not a relatively large terror organization behind this since a group like Al Qaida would have claimed the attack as their own by now?

Also, a former friend of mine would like to announce that he, a medical health professional, really believes that we should send whoever did this into a gladiatorial style combat situation which we citizens can pay to watch as punishment and a deterrent to any future bombers. Because we haven't progressed past Rome in terms of civilization.

I believe that guy was questioned and cleared by the FBI. Given that the explosives are thought to be either on a timer or activated remotely, it would be pretty stupid for the attacker(s) to stand in the vicinity when they went off.

I really don't care who did this or why, well, maybe a little, if only to see if a more peaceful resolution can be found. I really just want them to be found and justice to be served. Killing innocent people is never right, no matter how one twists and turns.
