Men and Women equal? No, never.

RE: Men and Women equal? No, never.
I'll suggest a possible explanation for that:

You offered a convoluted explanation - by means of a poorly thought out example - of why you were "for more discrimination"-..part of the larger narrative of how men and women just aren't equal. But since this stems from a belief previously held and then only later rationalized (or at least an attempt is being made) you've fallen into the unfortunate position in which it's difficult for you to comprehend why the justifications offered for this previously held belief run either at odds, or not at all - to the belief in question- and your own thoughts on the matter (at least insomuch as they are expressed in this thread).

Let me simplify.

The sexes aren't equal, and to highlight this-we reference pregnancy (herp derp)

Employers should be able to discriminate based upon sex - due to a reasonable expectation of having to pay maternity leave.

-However, since you see nothing wrong with paying maternity leave, why this is a compelling reason to discriminate in hiring practices becomes a mystery. I suspect, that the example offered hd nothing to do with why - in your mind- it was okay to discriminate against this person. I doubt it went much further than -

"because vagina".

That's probably the plot for Quentin Tarantino's next film.
That'd be brilliant, I love Quentin, it's like the guy reads my mind as to what I want in a movie.

My 2 cents.
From the employer's point of view, it's a damn gamble to employ women. Sooner or later, they need to stay away for a few months and I'd have to keep paying her, keep her job waiting for her, hire someone else temporarily to do her job (and we all know how hard working temps are).... and this might get repeated some other time.
It's a pain and that's why governments enforce the kind of rules that force the employer to go through these troubles.

From the government point of view, one person working is one person paying income tax. One woman who is allowed to have a child while still paying income tax, is a generator of future income tax, so these must be encouraged.

From the employee point of view, it's good to know that, your job is safeguarded in case you decide to have children. These children will keep the society going in the future, so they should never be considered a burden.... and they'll pay for your retirement.... if you get any. If you didn't know you'd have a job after having a baby, you'd most likely NOT have a baby, hence not replenishing the country's population, hence depleting the government of it's future income, hence ruining the country, leading to a collapsing infrastructure and we'd go back to the middle-ages....

To sum up, it's good that people want to have kids. Good for the people, good for the country. On the short term, it's not so good for the company, but if the company had it's wishes, the country would fall, and that's ultimately very bad for any company operating on a given country, methinks...

The point still remains that I did not do that. I was responding to his post. You Americanized my response . . . not me. It's getting a little absurd. One more time . . . anyone, anywhere. I've already said this.

Yep. Tough shit. Except the benefits part and the fact that your use of the word rich is histrionic.

I agree men and women are not equal, I think historically and to our times, women are morally superior to men over all. I think women are superior to men in many ways, and many are superior to women only in some ways like being more muscular etc.

The love a mother has for her child and the child has for his mother relationship makes them have something deeper than we men can have. While fathership is important, I feel motherhood is a deeper and more enriching experience.

Women are better then men in my opinion.

Woah woah, slow down there my friend. I don't think any gender is "better" than the other, we both complement each other very well. There are things that women are good at and there are other things men are good at, we're not the same thing so you can't compare directly am I wrong?

Men can pee over walls with the greatest of ease.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Yeah I think you are wrong. I think for example, if we all realized women tend to do things out of love more then ego (like us men), then we would prefer women as leaders, which would've been better for society, then us men ruling.

Men also subjugated women historically and till now because he likes to feel all better and higher out of vanity.

I also feel women will make better teachers to society because they tend to actually care more about the person learning, while men care more about being followed and care less if they really prove the point and teach the person.

Men show confidence in their ideas, but women, show genuine belief that the person can understand...while men seem more like to love being followed.

In my discussion when I left Islam with women on the internet, I felt they were genuine in trying to make me understand and showed love, while men were more hateful and upset.

If the truth is going to be spread. I believe it's women who are going to have to the lead way.

Men love being followed even if the other is totally ignorant of what they teach. Women genuinely want you to see the truth.

Men have had their chance to bring a just society but haven't. They just love being followed as opposed to being genuine teachers.
