A challenge about women and marriage in Islam
RE: A challenge about women and marriage in Islam

Nine year olds want to be a LOT of things. Basic arithmetic skills are logic-based. How about, if they want to be one of these things: they go ahead and learn from a marine biologist, surgeon, chemist, doctor, knee specialist, accountant, so on and so on and so on?

General education is farce.

Quote:I didn't take PE in school as a subject later on but I know the the later lessons involved much more than just doing the exercise and my friends who did take the subject enjoyed it and learned from it.

I didn't take PE when I realized I had the opportunity to not, because I really hated my penis and the body hair on my legs, both of which are very prominent in those uniforms.

Oh, I'm sure they learned soooooo much. How about they try their hand at fishing, farming, construction, surveying, or some other physically-demanding task and 'learn' more?

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

I'm sorry... everyone with access to a functioning computer can learn how to use it.

True, not everyone has access to a computer... until they do. And when they have access to one, they can figure it out unless they're a worthless sack of shit that couldn't have done it anyway.

If they don't ever have access to a computer, there's not much reason for them to learn to use a computer, is there?

I'm going to help you out with your argument by suggesting that you surely aren't arguing that all of general education is a farce?

I'm just trying to stop you from saying this because it is pretty stupid.

Your actual argument was that 9 year olds should be able to skip education if they want to I thought?

My argument against this is that they shouldn't have the opportunity to get married and pregnant at 9 because they might not even be fully aware at this stage about how it will effect the rest of their life, a lot of little girls want a baby without realizing the responsibility it entails, this is amplified with a 9 year old, who's pregnancy would also be a hindrance on an already overworked national health service who now need to provide C sections to all the pregnant 9 year olds.

I would argue this, infact.

Is it? How about you demonstrate this to me?

That's one argument of mine... if someone wants to screw up their life by making a decision, or make their life better by making a decision: it's on them.

Of course, if they want to go back and learn <whatever>, nobody should be stopping them.

When I left Alaska, I'd just turned 18, and I went to Texas. I come back 8 months later, and find out that many of the people I knew had gotten married, gotten pregnant, gone to college, and a few had even had babies.

I leave and come back again, and most of those had ended in divorce, abortion, changed their major, and complained heavily about the circumstances that baby-having resulted in.

We're all children, from 1 to 92. Nobody is 'fully' aware of how children or marriage or college will affect their life, even those who have been through it already often mischaracterize what went wrong in their lives. For all that hindsight is claimed to be 20/20... our situations and understandings have changed since then.

Having children is a massive responsibility, I would always prefer that those seeking children of their own first learn from the children of other people, attempting to care for them first. I would be completely okay with amending pregnancy-related laws with "Must first prove that one can care for the child according to <proficiency>".

I don't agree that a nine year old getting pregnant today is going to 'overwork' health services (consider: they could be getting pregnant in 9 years, and the effect would be nearly identical as far as work that doctors must do).

Quote:KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Conservative religious lawmakers in Afghanistan blocked legislation on Saturday aimed at strengthening provisions for women's freedoms, arguing that parts of it violate Islamic principles and encourage disobedience.

Quote: Khalil Ahmad Shaheedzada, a conservative lawmaker for Herat province, said the legislation was withdrawn shortly after being introduced in parliament because of an uproar by religious parties who said parts of the law are un-Islamic.

"Whatever is against Islamic law, we don't even need to speak about it," Shaheedzada said.

Quote:He said the Quran also makes clear that a husband has a right to beat a disobedient wife as a last resort, as long as she is not permanently harmed. "But in this law," he said, "It says if a man beats his wife at all, he should be jailed for three months to three years."

So there you have it, Assorted Islamic Shitwits....Straight from the Horse's......Ass.

Being out here! I have seen them beat their women. It makes me sad!

that's why in Islam marriage is not just sex or 2 people agree to live together, family are involved (even for grown ups) and proper matching should be considered before marriage.
