Religion, A Curable Illness

RE: Leading neuroscientist: Fundamentalism may be a ‘mental illness’ that can be ‘cured’

I can't understand though why Dawkins is obsessed with God. Shouldn't he be curing cancer or something. Maybe he will start a forum to dismiss the toothfairy and we can stay up all night typing away telling how it was our Mum that put the shilling under the pillow!! kerching!!

You cannot prove the existance of your god either. The conclusion that there is no god is one I reached due to the inmoral teachings of all the existing religions and the improbablyity of him, her or them existing.

Dawkins holds presentations and writes books on religion because he sees it as the most deconstructive human force in the world.

Not all atheist listen to that man. Atheism is not a monolythic block, it is a conclusion reached by individuals through indicidual thought.

I utterly respect your views. I think it boils down to a personal decision that 'you pays your money and takes your choice' Personally reading how science has chopped and changed its views since Newton, I can only put my faith in the Bible. This maybe a human weakness but I'll take my chances. Newton said that we will never untangle the universe ( he believed in the creator)

Newton also believed in alchemy and that black people were infirior to white people.

Do you really thing that the unchangeability of something can be seen as something good???

I was holding Newton up as someone that scientists revere and not as a model Christian. Only one man left this earth perfect. Atheisism seems to follow a fundamentalism similar to that which is seen in aspects of Christianity and Islam. Also it is pisspoor to judge a dead bloke ( Newton) from centuries ago with modern ethics.

Quote:Kathleen Taylor, Neuroscientist, Says Religious Fundamentalism Could Be Treated As A Mental Illness

What a shock, people are starting to figure out what I've been saying all along: Religion is a disease.

You know what science altering its conclusions based on additional evidence is called? Learning.

Shouldn't you be more distrustful of a group that maintains their views in spite of additional information than one that changes according to the realities of the universe? Feel free to put your faith in the bible; science doesn't need your faith in order to be true.

Do you have conclusive physical evidence of mental illness?
