But you have that right, you just can't force others to do so.

Quote:essentially you can't insist someone not say something so you're not offended.

That part I do agree with.
Quote:Edit: Well you can insist it, but you would be an idiot for saying so. It's not like you can sue someone for being offended

Not that it hasn't been tried, and it will be all the rage in Ireland this year.

I think that, "You don't have the right to be not offended." means that, "You do not have the right to enforce your views on others so that you are free from experiencing offense." (Not nearly as catchy!)

I get that some people would see the double negative and swear that it means the positive but, "You have the right to be offended." does not cover the meaning that I get from, "You don't have the right to be not offended." The statement, "You have the right to be offended." simply means that I am allowed to be offended if I want.

The statement, "You don't have the right to prevent yourself from being offended." almost gets it all but I DO have the right to prevent offense to myself by avoiding any form of stimuli that could cause offense.

I didn't read it that way, but yeah, I used different words to say a similar thing.

I thought the movie was great.

Yes the plot was recycled but so what?

How many movies recently have had truly original plots?

Not many at all, I can't think of one at the moment.

I don't watch movies like this for the deep and meaningfuls,

I watch them to be entertained, that's all

True, it was implied that I meant you can't force others.

True. There's always the Patrick Greene case

Also, I adore Fandom Secrets:

Yeah, Fandom Secrets is a guilty pleasure. People can reveal their stupid hypocritical feelings without being judged

I can judge them. Smile

If the production costs of Avatar are around $500 million, you might think you can employ a few writers to come up with an original plot.
