RE: Just Curious
So 1. That wasn't a threat from a mod, as you have stated this in another thread.

If it was a personal threat, then I'll file it in the ignore bin.

and 2. did you see the rest of the post where I added some information on Dawkins ignorance of theology that you requested?

1 No that was not a threat from a Mod. Whatever I posted I did so without my Mod hat on. If you feel you were threatened, by anyone at all, regardless of status, you are duty-bound to report it. I guarantee that all reports are considered and appropriate action levied, without exception.

2 Yes I saw that. What does that have to do with anything?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

You posted people having a go at Dawkins but no actual examples of his ignorance.

Here's some help for you.

Someone else having a pop at Dawkins on theism.

On reading the article I find no ignorance just things that seem to ring true.

The entire posting was people spouting off their opinions about Dawkins with no actual evidence to back up their claims. They may be experts in their fields, but it just sounds like they're mad for the sake of being mad because someone is telling them that they should be mad and then gives them a shallow reason for being mad.

"I'm mad because Richard Dawkins isn't a Theologian!"

Well, fuck, I'm not a Theologian either! What the hell am I doing debating Christians here on this forum here, since I'm obviously not qualified to do so?

Theists have an illogical notion that they alone have special insight into understanding all things religious.

Mainly the ones with the special insight are those with their heads up their arses, since that's where all things religious originate.

Strangely I feel no duty. I don't know how you couldn't take those words as threatening. What were you going to do? As a mod you have to be aware that members here have to take that (your mod status) into consideration, especially when you're using overtly threatening language. If you weren't speaking as a mod, then your words were unacceptable. Enough said.

You mentioned my laziness after I'd added the detail. I was just making sure you were aware.

Quote:“they invariably come up with vulgar caricatures of religious faith that would make a first-year theology student wince.

First year theology students should spend more time wincing and less time reading that silly bible horseshit. It's pretty sad to even be a theology student.

When I am speaking as a Mod, I make that perfectly clear. You've been here long enough to recognise this. If I spoke out of turn then I apologise. You can have no idea what is inside my head at rhe moment and if I allowed that to spill over into my words then that indeed is not acceptable. If you won't report me, I must.

However, I will not stand accused of abusing my Staff position in this way. If nothing else, I endeavour to be thoroughly professional in my work, whatever form that may take.

That last, re: laziness, may have been a cross-purposes thing. You and I are both using mobiles for this at the moment. There have been lots of times when I have had to edit my posts so as to accomodate some new information that has come up while I've been composing them. This might have been one of those times - except that I was responding to your previous empty assertions backed up with nothing (the first two posts on this page... my mobile internet is taking too long to make it practical for me to take the direct links from the desktop site) . What you provided came in the next post. On that basis and in its proper context, my observation still stands.
