My ex used to do the same. Then, when I did back my arguments, she'd play the "How do you know? Were you there?" card.

Everything I said about the Mormon religion is true, look it up yourself. I'm fine for Mormons to believe in all that but I find it as silly you do. Though seeing as they don't believe in an eternal God I think they're closer to being atheism, the Gods in Mormonism are only people like us. Yes so Jesus was a man like us but it isn't the same thing at all trust me.

Oh, this is funny. A Christian telling an ex-Mormon all about Mormonism.

Funny... but not at all surprising.

RE: A Mormon doubts
Well he agreed with me about the Mormon Gods being former human beings including the God of the Bible. That's part is true and nothing like the Christian God who is eternal, uncreated, omnipotent, mon-physical and created everything that exists. Mormonism is polytheistic regardless of whether they're devoted to only one God particular. There is the issue of who was supposed to make the first God, there has to be a place to start.
Come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant.

So you claim.

You will find that is the monotheistic and triune God of Christianity. Mormons believe in a man who became God not a God who became a man. Mormonism may as well be the exact polar opposite of Christianity, it's the anti-Christianity more or less.
Come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant.

So if you weren't Christian, how would you go about debunking Mormonism without claims about your own religion messing with your reasoning? Seriously, take god and Jesus out of the equation for a moment, and tell me why Mormonism is bogus from a purely secular standpoint.

RE: A Mormon doubts
One question: who were you rooting for in the last presidential election? Romney wasn't it?
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Romney was demonstrably a liar, so I did my best to convince others not to vote for him. I actually got a lot of members in my Squadron in Tucson to vote for Barack Obama, and that's quite a feat considering how red the military is.
