Edit: Oh and I don't want to give you the impression that it's easy, it's not. Looking for work is hard because they say you don't have canadian work experience. So I had to do a couple of years of volunteer work before I got my first paid job. And school is also hard because the paperwork doesn't translate that well, so when they were placing me in high school, they were going to put me a grade lower than what I was supposed to be because they thought I wouldn't be able to keep up. Turns out school here is a lot easier than in my home country, they placed me in the right grade. You really have to work at becoming part of the society, I'm not saying those who failed didn't work hard, because the system isn't very friendly to immigrants, but you definitely have to work at it to have a chance.

I dont have language problems, and within the EU citizens of EU countries can constantly apply for work despite language problems.

I didn't have language problems either. I had an accent when I first came here but I was fluent, and my command of the language was close to my command of Chinese, my first language. I don't know, people just somehow think I was less competent because I was educated in a less developed country, if you won't have that stigma then it'd be easier for you.

I guess we have something in common in that both of us dont want to look back and dont really have anything to miss.

I chose to go to Germany because of the language, but wouldnt mind going anywhere else.

Why did you chose Canada?

It was my parents' decision, I didn't mind it. Our circumstances were complicated and I don't want to go into it in detail here, but you can pm if you like

We were gonna move to Malta when I was a teenager. But then my Mum got sick and it never happened.

Left England on a 2 year stint to Greece in 1992. Kinda got stuck here. Can't really face going back (unless things get REALLY bad over here).

For me living in Greece is hilarious - I think the day I start to take it seriously I'll have to go.
