So, except for the expense, it's just like Christianity, right?

Atheism is not a quest for knowledge. Science is.

You are sadly mistaken in your views. In fact, you are an idiot.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

I know perfectly well this guy is a troll. This response and any others I make on this thread are directed more towards other people who wonder why Scientology gets such a bad rap.

Scientology gets a bad rap because of the overwhelming and well documented evidence that it exists for nothing more than to exploit its members. Start here, noob.

On a related note, Scientology is not a religion. It only gained tax exempt status through a well documented fraud in the US.

Check out this video its only 1 minute long but its what motivated to give it a try:

see? Scientology is a quest for knowledge, just like atheism.
If you listen to the cult itself, of course all they're going to tell you about flowers, pretty unicorns, and rainbows. The reality to quite different and you'll realize that the first time you get 'regged' for a new set of Miscavige's 'squirrel tech,' the Basics. It'll be about $6,000 and you're just getting started. Soon you'll be asked to buy multiple sets to give to other people, and thats on top of your courses and your IAS donations. Since you seem to like the videos Scientology makes, here's a nice from the IAS for you.

Then you haven't been there very long yet. All cults start with a period of love bombing before they start making their demands.

The "church" is all about selling massively overpriced books, most of which can be purchased on eBay for pennies, and hugely expensive auditing. Btw, I know you're aren't really a Scientologist when you use the term 'negative energy within you.'

They'll be friendly until you fight their control or refuse to empty out your savings. Then the real fun begins.

Yeah, I have an advertising slogan for them. 'Think for yourself- Duplicate Ron.' If you don't get what that means, you will.

Macky, is that you? Dodgy
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Neither scientology nor atheism is a quest for knowledge.

I lol'ed.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Mokona's the best, and my totem animal to boot. White, fluffy, silly and though I mostly produce meaningless chatter, sometimes when I open my mouth, something really surprising and useful comes out Big Grin
