The Broncos haven't exactly had a tough season. They have yet to beat a team that current has a winning record:
Ravens (4-5), Giants (3-6), Raiders (3-6), Eagles (5-5), Cowboys (5-5), Jaguars (1-8), Colts (Loss, 6-3), Redskins (3-6), Chargers (4-5)
Then again, the Chiefs also have not beaten a team with a current winning record, either:
Jaguars (1-8), Cowboys (5-5), Eagles (5-5), Giants (3-6), Titans (4-5), Raiders (3-6), Texans (2-7), Browns (4-5), Bills (3-7)
Excluding the teams they both played:
Denver: Ravens (4-5), Colts (Loss, 6-3), Redskins (3-6), Chargers (4-5)
KC: Titans (4-5), Texans (2-7), Browns (4-5), Bills (3-7)
Throw out Denver's loss to the Colts, and KC's win against the creampuff Texans, and they look about the same, based on strength of schedule only. There are many other factors of course - but your contention that the Chiefs have been beating up cupcakes seems to be equally applicable to the Broncos - neither has really played anyone really good and won. This is the matchup of the season in the AFC, IMHO - and will tell us a lot about who's really on top of the conference.
Have to throw this in: Seattle has beaten two serious playoff contenders: The 49ers and the Panthers. We've otherwise had a pretty similar season to both KC and Denver.
