Quote:Circuit Court Judge Karl Sakamoto ruled today against same-sex marriage opponents and refused to issue a temporary restraining order to prevent the state from granting marriage licenses to gay couples starting on Dec. 2.
After hearing arguments for about an hour, Sakamoto said that while the plaintiffs had standing to file their request for a TRO, the state Legislature has the power to define marriage in the state of Hawaii. He said regulating marriage was "long regarded as the province of the state.
Some State legislatures are allowed to define marriage.
Others aren't.
Guess which 15 States ARE allowed.

I could not be trusted with such power.
Ohhhhh, I've got a little list in my head. I do believe human trafficking would come to a complete, utter, sticky halt.
That's pretty much it, though. I probably wouldn't even harm anyone involved... just repair damages, and employ copious teleportation for when people are being horribly abused. Maybe slap them (traffickerz) on the wrist.
Guess that's one way to keep one's hands full for a long long time

I value marriage for practical applications of it... financial, political, and social reasons I'm incredibly against a legally binding statement based on emotion (alone).
All sorts of game for them to have a good time without being ridiculous, though

Marriage is not based on love but I've yet to find two people who ever wanted to marry (in a voluntary situation) without it.
All gay couples want is equality. If straight couple want marriage, gay couples should get the same rights.

Ever seen a merger? Same idea.

Odd. Here I just wanted the legal benefits of marriage (mostly the whole, 'if she's in hospital, they let me be there for her' bit). I don't give a rat's left pinky toe about it for reasons of 'equality' XD If there were no specific legal/financial benefits to be gained by marriage: I can't see a damn reason to do it.
Ps: that's one 'gay couple' that wants something entirely unrelated to equality XD

You're right, I shouldn't have assumed you were Christian. It was an honest assumption as I have only come across Christian opposition to this issue. You have taught me a lesson.

That is equality. This couple gets to be in the hospital, this other doesn't because they're gay. It's a connected issue.

Like I said, Lyin. They are telling you and your god to go fuck yourselves. How do you like it? You clowns have been getting away with murder for centuries and now you are finally getting your just reward. You superstitions are losing their hold on humanity. There is no getting that power back!

No, but it certainly helps.

No, but it certainly helps. And they deserve the tax breaks and acknowledgement of more than just 'partner' especially when their marriages outlast more 'socially acceptable' marriages

And we keep moving ever forward: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_opin...ted_States.
Like mandatory prayer in school, this is one battle fundamentalist Christians are losing but will continue to harp on it for decades.
