Islam - Stones women for dancing half naked in videos regardless of whether or not they chose to do it.

Well as I have indicated prior, Christianity still has it's baggage and does not get a pass either. Secular law allows women to choose to do what they want. But Christians still try to control their bodies.
Oh, I agree completely.
It's just that this current rant seems to be fueled by a Muslim, so I went with that. Big Grin
(If it were being pushed by a Christian or Jew, I'd say the same thing, just reword it a bit to poke at that faith.)

West- Women dancing half naked in music videos, treated as sex objects in every form of media and even women think its ok.

That's western idea of women's rights.

No, the idea of equal rights for women gives them the OPTION to dance half naked in videos. It gives them the OPTION to wear pantsuits and the OPTION to wear burqas if they so wish.

See that difference?

In my particular example it has given me the option to get a career where I wear scrubs all day.

These options, whether it's clothing, career or even education, is not available to many women in Islamic countries.

Muslims are terrified of options. They need to be told what to do.

Um again, how is this different than Christianity? Even our liberal Christian friends consult the same comic book and have holy men on Sunday tell them what to do.

The only difference is 200 years of secular law, but not really much more than that.

All the people on here are liberal clowns. Yeah its her choice to shake her ass and we're gonna promote in the media. Continuous cycle. This is not how men or women are supposed to behave and not how women are to be exploited and controlled.

Please, do tell us, grand lord of all of us, how are men and women "supposed" to behave? Please, we have been waiting with bated breath for your glorious imprimatur!

And while you're at it, do tell us what's wrong with women's asses, that isn't, rather, a problem with men taking sexuality as permission to objectify women?

Way to treat the disease by punishing the affected, dude!

With respect and virtues.

If women waited until they were married to have sex would there be a culture of calling women bitches, sluts, whores as is the norm while it's expected for men to have sex with women? That the guy is "cool" if he has sex with a lot of women but if a women does she's a slut. That's what having sex out of marriage does it lead to extreme patriarchal societies.

Of course, the majority of arab gulf states brutally oppress women but in Iran they are not oppressed.

More than 60% of students in Universities in Iran are women.

There are Masters degrees in Women's studies in Universities in Iran and countless academic scholars. Islam gave women property rights when the savage pagans were burning female babies alive.

If the woman has any earnings during her marital life, by way of investments of her property or as a result of work, she doesn't have to spend one penny of that income on the household, it is entirely hers.

The full maintenance and support of a married woman is the entire responsibility of her husband, even though she might be richer than he is. She doesn't have to spend a penny.

At the time of divorce, there are certain guarantees during the waiting period and even beyond for a woman's support.

If the widow or divorcee has children, she's entitled to child support.

During the period of engagement, a woman is to be on the receiving side of gifts.

At the time of marriage, it is the duty of the husband, not the bride's family. He is supposed to pay for a marital gift. The Quran called it a gift, and it is exclusively the right of the woman. She doesn't have to spend it on the household, she doesn't have to give it to her father or anyone else.

If the woman happened to own any property prior to marriage, she retains that property after marriage. It remains under her control. Also, in most Muslim countries, the woman keeps her own last name, and her own identity.

As far as treatment of daughters is concerned, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Anyone who has two daughters, and did not bury them, did not insult them and brought them up properly, he and I will be like this," holding his two fingers close together. Another version adds, "And also did not favor his sons over daughters." One time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was seated. A companion was sitting with him. The companion's son came. He kissed his son and put him on his lap. Then his daughter came, and he just sat her by his side. The Prophet told the man, "You did not do Justice," meaning he should have treated the daughter equally, kissed her and put her in his lap also. Indeed, whenever the Prophet's daughter Fatimah came to him, in front of everyone, he stood up, kissed her and let her sit in his favorite place where he'd been sitting.
