That is the worst limerick I have ever read.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

There was a young Christian I know.
Who said that his God was just so.
When asked to explain
He left on a train.
And I was left thinking him Poe.

Sorry for my assumption that atheists don't believe in absolute truth. What is absolute truth for an atheist?

They maintain that science is beginning to understand this absolute truth. They merely do not claim to completely understand this absolute truth. I have never heard of anyone who completely rejects absolute truth. I think you are confusing divine truth with absolute truth.

How will science know when it gets there?

What is your point of reference with which truth can be measured relatively?

If it could be proven beyond doubt that God exists...
and that He is the one spoken of in the Bible...
would you repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus Christ?

Observation.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

This is incoherent. I have no idea what you're saying or why.

As an atheist, to me absolute truth simply means the correct correspondence between statements and events. It isn't necessarily always possible to know the truth, but that doesn't mean there is no fact of the matter regarding events.

For a theist, what could absolute truth possibly mean? Some seem to think God is the truth - misapplication of terms.

Some seem to think that only God is in position to know ALL the truth. Many Christians seem to think since God is their guy and He has the truth, so do they. Utter bullshit of course. No Christian knows that God has the truth. Worse, they don't know they have the right god either.

But face it, Christians mostly don't care about the truth. They just want to be lambs grazing under God's watchful eye. Many long for the oblivion of absorption by God, or to suckle at His breast like an infant.

YOUR logic is flawed

YOUR first two statements are NOT TRUE

An atheist does not accept the existence of gods - that has nothing to do with absolute truth. It is a theist who mixes up the concepts of truth and belief. Since the existence of a god is NOT absolute truth - it is - based on your logic - a problem with the Theists - not the atheist. IT is the theist who does not "accept:" evolution - which is truth - not the atheist.

Since YOUR first statement is a LIE - the rest of your statements are not true as well.

A mountain's worth -- but only after learning that their faith is too weak to move that mountain of shit through prayer alone.
