God is god, and we are not god

God is god, and we are not god
Wow this was on the Christian radio station. I work a farm that plays this station every morning. Undecided
So this was the title of today’s preaching: God is god and we are not god.
He went on to say the god controls our lives and we do things at his will, bla bla bla …Let god guide us/you throw life… I kinda toned the rest of it out, but I got thinking.

What happen to Free Will? Can’t they (Christians) get their story straight?

No, they can't.

That's why there are over 30,000 different sects.

Long ago when I was an undergrad, I worked one summer at a factory, and the permanent employee supervising our crew used to reflect pensively: "All of them religions, and all out of the same book."

His grammar may have been a little off, but you couldn't fault his logic.

You have free will, just use it to follow blindly.

And don't give me that bullshit about "questioning", the only questioning that is advocated is what did god really say, not oh, I wonder if god is right about that. Once you've determined what god's said you're supposed to snap to it.

Free will is there to lay guilt, so that you can be forced to obey or go to hell. See how that works out? Yea.

It's whatever works at the time, and only at the time. Apologetics doesn't need foresight, since it's mostly in the business of quieting dissenters, not actually making convincing or cogent arguments.

For the Christian religion, the point is not to question god, it's to verify that a particular interpretation of scripture fits with his plans (or will, or desire, etc). If you believe in the Christian god then you believe that he's right and you are better off doing what he says. The trick is to figure out just what it is that he said, and whether he really really meant it, which is where the 30,000+ denominations come in.

I think that most variants of Christianity take the position that you should verify for yourself that an interpretation is the right one, and that if you do so with a true heart and guidance from god's spirit, you'll recognize that theirs is the right one. You do recognize that theirs is the right one, don't you? Wouldn't want anything to happen to that pretty little soul of yours. *cracks knuckles*
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

It is the natural tendency of some to be submissive and to worship a strong entity. It is a perversion really...all those men who go to a BDSM mistress to worship her boots while she sticks a burning cigarette in their peehole...they enjoy...to say it with the accent of OSHO Rashnish, they enjoay theese espiritual masturbation, this play pretend to satisfy their submissive tendencies.

The way that I understand it is that we have free will and god has his will for us. We can use our free will to accept gods will for us or reject it.

So the result is that anything that you do that is good and beneficial is god's will for you and any time you do something that is detrimental to yourself or other -- that is your own will.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste -- don't pollute it with bullshit.
