And as a "black" person living in the USA would you agree that you are in a worse state now than "actual" slavery? Or that the only difference between then and now is that you have to feed yourself?

Both sides have their flaws, and the government needs a serious washing out in all areas. Though as a low income atheist, I get a serious feeling that the republican side doesn't have my best interests at heart.

I'm just as equally scared to go into Baltimore City. Baltimore is an extremely violent city... but the thing is... they don't kill you for your race they kill you for your wallet.

I live in the middle of AL and GA and I don't see the Confederate flag displayed everywhere. I have an aunt and an uncle, and in their bedroom they have a confederate flag covering half of a wall; but it's not really "southern pride" or "racism", it's "Oh hey we needed something to cover the wall and we had this Confederate flag so shoot."

Yeah, but why did they have it? Someone had to buy it at some point, knowing what it meant. They could have gotten a US flag, but instead got a Confederate flag. That makes a statement.

A lot of people here, or at least the ones I've come into contact with, don't really care much about it. It's just a flag, old decoration, something to fill a space in the wall, something to "represent" the south, or "southern (stupid) pride", whether it be positive or negative. But where I live, you don't see it often, and when you do, it's just the "Confederate flag", to be honest, some hicks here don't even know what it means.

Now I do know some extremely racist people who practically worship the symbol, scorn blacks, gays, immigrants, etc. You name it; anyone who's not a proud southern white idiot.

They've also married their children.
