My take on Life

No, but you said yourself you came here expecting it. As though you were entitled to it.

Your obvious misunderstandings about evolution have already been pointed out by other posters. Read the damn thread.

RE: My take on Life
Heh. Our arguments cancel out because of your ignorance about the facts of evolution?

*wipes hand over face*

On any other subject a person is embarassed by any ignorance they have. With religion it makes people positively proud of their ignorance.

I'm not going to have this conversation. Because you don't have any interest in learning jack shit. The scientific theory of evolution is the most robust scientific theory humans have ever produced. Everything from the food on your table, to flu shots, to HIV treatments absolutely depend on it being correct. We have more proof for it than for the heliocentric solar system.

If you want to gloat about your ignorance go do it to someone else. I really don't feel like wasting my time.

I am new here, and even though I'm an atheist, I still would expect to put in some time, properly and coherently argue some points, and then maybe some people will come to expect certain things from me. Respect is earned, not given, as the saying goes.
I'm starting to get irritated by people that are under the impression I demanded respect. No where did I do anything more than request it.

(March 2, 2014 at 9:52 pm)SteelCurtain Wrote: Also, your post was extremely defensive and dismissive. Why be surprised when you get what you expected? There are many people on here with all sorts of beliefs. Those that come here with the intent to proselytize don't get treated well, those that come here and post statements with no intent on discourse don't get treated well, but those that come here with questions they are honestly willing to have an intelligent conversation about actually get treated pretty well.
Thank you, although I won't be sticking around here.

(March 2, 2014 at 9:52 pm)SteelCurtain Wrote: But remember where you are. This is a forum for atheists. You came here, posted this diatribe, and asked us not to try to change your mind. That is patently ridiculous.
This is the truth. Except I think "diatribe" is a little bit too extreme of a word.

One does tire of educating the deliberately ignorant

Not going to attempt an argument with you. Although, I'm still waiting for some actual fossils of those whales.

Strange, I'm always blasted for not believing evolution, for not seeing all the obvious facts, and yet when I bring up transitional fossils, no one can ever show more than a few.

No one can ever provide evidence against what I contradict. Edit.

It is ridiculous to request respect whilst being disrespectful.

Why not? Your views on evolution and the origin of the cosmos/life are interesting topics that you seriously could learn something about. Some of the things you said are demonstrably false, and if you stuck around, the worst you could leave here with is learning some things, and maybe you can bring some apologetics we haven't been exposed to before. We're a tough crowd, but if you show some earnest desire to discourse, this could be a positive experience...
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Also, there a several million different kinds of creatures on this planet. The lack of transitional fossils showing the evolution of these creatures is, in my opinion, a small bit of evidence against evolution. You don't think so. I do. Our arguments cancel out.

The lack of transitional fossils between this picture:

and this one:

is, in my opinion, a small bit of evidence against procreation. You probably don't think so (notice I don't presume to tell you what you think; merely suppose it). I do. Do our arguments cancel out?

Well... no. One of us could just be wrong.

Incidentally, it's not enough to disprove evoultion, even if you think you can - you still have to produce evidence in support of whatever alternative you wish to place in its stead. Bear in mind also that whatever alternative you may be proposing has to be at least as comprehensive as the existing model.

No, you said you expected to receive it. That, unless you qualify your meaning, suggests a demand.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

And I am not one of them. Kind of looks like a mission statement to me.

Your'e probably right. I assumed that, presented with civility, they could be civil in return.
I'm new around here.

I suppose if there actually IS anything to truly say regarding my post, odds are the person who would think to say it isn't going to read it. Oh well.

What is there to say?

You've basically said"nothing will change my mind"

What is there to discuss?
