I think Huggy74 might actually be right about the "image of god" thing.

There's room for interpretation, but the general consensus is that it wasn't meant to be "our physical bodies look like god". It seems to be more about our (supposed) inherent value as human beings.

Based on the size of the ark as listed in the bible versus the level of diversity we have today, in addition to simply factoring in, say, travel time to other places on the globe that Noah couldn't have gotten to- especially for animals that aren't particularly motile, like amoebas- and... yes, it would have taken a longer time to get to the planet's current state that the flood story would allow.

first of all i wasn't questioning evolution, I was questioning how long it takes.

What exactly do you mean when you ask for data on how long evolution takes? Like, how long did it take to get from the first organism to what we see today? Or...something else?

This is why it's so embarrassing when Christians try to shoehorn science into the bible story. They generally know lots about the bible and piss all about science.

Animals have very clear classification systems. Genus. Species that style of thing. They have clear meanings. So what exactly is a "sort"?
