Yeah, he may have empowered the people by translating that stuff (and unwittingly define the german standard languagr), but other than that he is such an arsehole across the board it's not even funny.

Back to the topic...

Do you believe in the reliability of the scientific method?

I trust my wife, I trust bridges (most of the time), and I trust some ideas enough to live my life in accordance with them. In the realm of ideas I trust the belief that honesty is the best policy. I trust that my senses do not overtly decisive me. I take it on faith that other people have minds. I have faith that reality exists apart from individual minds. And I trust that God exists and living a good life involves loving what is good and true.

Few things are certain. Most everything else requires some degree of faith. Can anyone be certain that God does not exist? No. But you trust your reasoning and have faith in its conclusions. I'm not certain that God exists but I consider it highly likely based on my reflections on life and I try to live accordingly.

Finally someone at the table who can contribute something meaningful. Kudos!

Answer the question.

Do you believe that the scientific method is a reliable means of acquiring knowledge of the world in which you live?

Praise the Lord, indeed! Praise him for a universe governed by laws. Praise him for the intellect of the engineers that designed it. Praise him for the diligence of the contractors that built it. Etc. etc.

I maintain that many atheists do indeed exercise faith despite what they may say about it.

What is it with Christians so desperately needing atheism to be labeled a "faith."
Can't you just be ignorant on your own?
