If God is your copilot, swap seats.
April 28, 2014 at 8:11 am
Lately I have been driving past a church with a flashing sign saying " If God is your copilot, swap seats".
Now keep in mind I am driving. So what they are suggesting is that I jump over in the passenger side and let the All Mighty take the wheel.
I'm glad he is not my copilot because this will kill you. I am tempted to go in this church and ask for a demonstration.

What if I'm carpooling with the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Thor, and God? Can I swap God to one of the back seats?
Because I get the feeling a control freak like him would be constantly fucking with the radio, and I hate christian rock.

I've heard this saying, and I guess it's mainly a response to an older saying that "God was my copilot". Of course being a free thinking individual that's biologically geared towards breaking free from the control of the people who made me (my parents), I was always hesitant to take the bible into account with every little thing I do in my life. It's like when people ask if something you're doing is glorifying their god. If it's not, then stop. Of course that's always up to interpretation. Even having one night stands could be considered glorifying god, because you're giving him ample oportunity to make new life.

But wasn't Jesus a Jew? So wouldn't he be tryna find the klezmer music hour on that weird, student run radio station?

When they said that they did not mean literally. If you thought it was then i assume you think scooby doo is real and can talk. They are talking in reference to a whole life. If a christian is steering there own life they should switch seats and let Jesus drive.

See that's the problem Mr Jesus man. What can I take literally and what can't I? They can talk out their ass and say anything but when the rubber meets the road they really didn't mean it literally. So what can I literally take my hands off and let Jesus do? Give me something tangible not woo woo hocus pocus stuff.

What that means (literally, at least) is to let God do all the heavy lifting. You're supposed to be there to aid him and point out errors in his judgment, and to step in for him, should anything happen to him.
Somehow, I think they failed pretty hard in that analogy they made.

Dog is my co pilot.
I trust a dog more than any "god" to fly this plane.
