Is it related to some doctor? Do note that both those term have implicit belief that some extraordinary agent exists... around here, that belief is far from granted. Besides, any institution that requires belief automatically lacks credibility. Think about it... RE: Catholicism

You are talking to a group of atheists. Sacraments and church doctrine are nonsense. You asked our opinion about the Church, not the church's ridiculous rites and rituals.
I will not even give the idea that mass produced crackers and wine turn into actual flesh and blood any of my time. It is as ridiculous as arguing about whether jellyfish have pinky toes. I will not do it.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

A bad experience? Or have you always just had a cold hate for your Creator and all that rightfully worship Him? Do you know what I think? I think you all just want to be different, to be set apart from what you know is Truth and everything involved with it because it brings about some wild sense of pride and self-accomplishment within you. Though I am likely wrong, and you will make that clear with plenty of cussing in three minutes or so.
And I think you have no evidence for your beliefs, so you must resort to character attacks.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I am not attacking character, just making a likely assumption based on previous observations of the people I was talking with. If I do so, please let me know, because I may not recognize that I am hurting someone, because I truly do not want to do that. I actually read and studied scripture critically, and doubt began to seep into my brain at the many contradictions I was encountering not only from the book but also from the community of which I was a part. I eventually came to the understanding that faith was irrational, because there was no logical reason for me to believe in something for which there was no evidence to support its existence. Hmm, and was your parish more focused on the warm and fuzzy stuff like welcoming people, or was it traditional with the Latin Mass and all? |
