Over here, it tends to be somewhat easier. The Democrats have more corporatist shills than makes any decent human being comfortable, but you can't even get past a Republican primary without making it well-known how much you are willing to hurt Americans through your legislation.

To be a Republican on the national level here, you must basically do the following:

-Be very wealthy (granted, Dems. have too as well)

-Take anal from lobbyists and corporations, lest they release their load on you... a massive influx of money to your opponents in the primaries to destroy you. (again, Dems. do too quite often)

-Support the goals corporations and lobbyists to the demonstrable detriment of the American people.

-Rage about Obama on every possible topic because he's a.... a... a [strike]black guy[/strike] communist, socialist, Muslim antichrist, with the mission to destroy America, or worse, Christianity!!!111

And I don't even like Obama, because he's often as bad as the rest of the corporate-worshipping politicians.


But don't worry, those corporations and lobbyists pay you with "campaign contributions", which are completely legal thanks to the Supreme Court of Fucking Morons. Add the fact that we know there is so-called dark money involved here as well, so who knows how much they're buying them off.

The dems have their lobbyists and big money benefactors too, not to mention that wealthy democrats outnumber wealthy Republicans in the Senate. Also, half of the Representatives in the House are millionaires, and the democrats have the edge over the Republicans.
