Just found out that the women I used to sit next to when doing my PhD has been my city's poet laureate for a year!

So sad that I failed to keep in contact with her. Moments like that sometimes get me down, when you realise you had a chance to keep up with someone but you failed to do it and now you regret it.

*sigh*

Why don't you just try to catch up with her?

I've got an old phone number which I've just tried to text, but I last used it in 2012. We'll see if she replies.

She also does some poetry meets at the central city library on Wednesdays (I think?) so I might try and pop along and say hi to her then.

So happy she's done well. I remember her being dejected about 3 years ago because she applied and didn't get it. She's a great poet that studied post war reconciliation poetry in Sierra Leone for her PhD. Amazing stuff. She finished a while ago, but I've depressed myself for never replying.
