RE: Hello
Welcome aboard.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Nice to meet you all.

Excellent and welcome. Just encountered you first on that "Can Science and Religion Overlap" thread where some clown sidetracked discussion for a while.

I really hope you like it here and will favor us with your views when you can. I'm forever conflicted about the time I spend online but I have to say this place has been special place for me. There are many individuals here who have won my affection and respect, and that can't be discounted even if it does happen online.

You don't strike me as the sort to shrink from a challenging environment and bear in mind that many atheists are former theists who are angry and hurt about the way important people in their lives disappointed them on account of religion. I suspect that in most cases the religion was total shit but I think you may embody a much better theology. Personally, I would be content to share the planet for all time with atheists and superior theists. (I don't automatically think you are mistaken in your theism.) Please do show us how it can be done.

RE: Hello
Welcome

My name is Michael as well. It is so rare and awesome when we get an erudite theist on the boards. Please stick around!

Really look forward to hearing your point of view about things.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

PM me your email address to join the Slack chat! I'll give you a taco(or five) if you join! --->There's an app and everything!<---

Thank you Whatervist.

Yes, I think you touch on something important when you say atheists may have been hurt in some way by theist or by theism. I think the personal stories are always important. It's never made much sense to me to try and completely dissect those away from the positions we each hold; we would end up leaving important things unsaid, I believe.
