I don't believe for a minute that some of the celebs have released their nude pics/sex tapes deliberately for the publicity that would generate.
Some, on the other hand, go to great lengths to stop such pics being published. While this does, in the short term, give them some minor publicity, I doubt many are complicit.

I was quite pleased when other women decided to post nude pictures to show their support.

I recall the Michael Jackson picture of him sleeping in his hyperbaric chamber.
How does a picture like that get out ?? Well, of course, Michael Jackson himself posed for it and released it. Nothing more complicated than that.
Uploading anything onto the internet, by now, ought to be universally understood to be akin to publishing it in the newspaper.
If someone broke and entered a celebrity's home and took illicit pictures, there would be police reports.

It seems odd, if I'm reading your statements correctly, that a number of celebs would conspire to release their pics all at the same time.
