Not your kind of "love", which is synonomus with "gullibility", the antithesis of "discernment".

-and thusly I've chosen to favor my conscience over your god. My "heart" tells me that I just can't bring myself to be a christian, it's too disgusting. Besides, I'm not interested in giving god a pass as you've done. I would hold him to the same standards I hold any human being to. If he can't pass for an even remotely decent human being - he's gonna be absolute shit at being a god.

I definitely agree, I personally have no tolerance for the act of murder. But I also recognize, God is the authorship of life, he gives and takes away. And while that doesn't always help me feel better knowing murder is always happening somewhere in the world at any given time, I do feel responsible for advocating love and peace between peoples.

So...you're against murder but if god does/commands murder, you don't get to call him immoral just because he is the giver/taker of life?

I understand. That's just the differences between you and I, nothing wrong with that. I don't hold God to human standards because he isn't human, but I do in some ways hold Jesus to human standards.

Might makes right, no thanks.

The man who advocates peace and love after having been washed in the blood loses the credibility required to do so. WTF are you even talking about? Might makes right..remember?

But...isn't the point of the matter that Jesus IS god? How can you hold one alter ego to human standards but not the other?

In other words, you only hold God to human standards when it's convenient for you to think of him as loving, merciful, just, good, etc. But when he's depicted, without impunity, as a genocidal, murderous, racist, homophobic piece of shit, well, who can really say for sure?

Not entirely. That questions opens up the Christian idea of the Holy Spirit, since God doesn't command us but rather leads us by our hearts. Hence, why I accept when some people's hearts are against God.

I do hold humans who invent god in his own image to human standards, I also hold any god thus invented to human standards.

Claiming the god you invented in your own image is actually real and beyond human standards in an effort to excuse yourself and the sick product of your fantasy just serves to damn yourself and your god as irredeemable failures by human standards.
