I doubt you guys like these but FWIW:
For King and Country - my favorite of the year Third Day - excellent, but Third Day songs tend to sound the same after awhile. Christmas show with Love & The Outcome (my wife was a volunteer and got to drive them to their hotel), Chris August, Plumb, and Jeremy Camp. This one was a disappointment. It was the first show of the tour and they were not prepared. Lots of technical difficulties. Casting Crowns and Mandisa. Great show. CC did a set, then Mandisa did hers, then CC came back for an acoustic set, then did another full set. We were volunteers for Compassion International and worked the crowd during intermission and after the show to get sponsors for poor children.
The only concert I saw this year was Elton John in New Orleans. Great show, BTW.
The 10th annual Cigar Box Guitar Festival was the only show I made it to this year.

The only big name I saw this year was The Alabama Shakes. Best show I've ever seen. Brittany Howard is a powerhouse. Also saw Joe Robinson a few times. Amazing guitar player. Then he nailed my sister hahaha That was a crazy night. (December 8, 2014 at 8:46 am)Alex K Wrote: Edit: Couldn't see the video you posted earlier (at work). RIP Darrell indeed. I would love nothing more than Vinnie and Phil to put shit together to tour. Rex would do it and I believe Zakk would fill-in admiradbly. (December 8, 2014 at 8:54 pm)Exian Wrote: Where's that? You can buy parts, a kit or a finished guitar. http://www.nickelcbg.com/online-store/

I go so rarely now just because I've pretty much seen every band or artist I've ever wanted to and many of them I've seen multiple times. I did go see Slayer and Exodus a week ago so that was pretty cool. BTW Dimebag was killed 10 years ago today. Still bums me out. I had a chance to see Pantera in the early 2000's but the show was canceled due to one of the members breaking a rib or an arm or something. I got the money refunded only to find out I could have used that ticket for another show later that year. RE: My Gig Year (well... the latter half)

Little roadhouses, fifty people in a crowd, good music, good times. When I was at Uni I spent most of my free evenings (and a few that weren't free... anyhoo...) in my local pub which had bands most nights, like your roadhouses 40-50 punters, beer and good music. It's just the best way to spend and evening. MM (December 8, 2014 at 1:20 pm)rexbeccarox Wrote: Ben Folds with the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl That's a good year. Depeche Mode Joe Cocker Lloyd Cole and the Commotions Paul young REM Ramones The Style Council U2 Elton John Kool and the Gang big Country Nick Kershaw Tears for Fears Howard Jones Wang Chung Twisted Sister Tank Iron Maiden and The Police ... late addition, I also saw Ian Dury and Madness at Wembley arena in London. "The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions" - Leonardo da Vinci
"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment) |
