Future of Christianity in US
|
Erm..okay, what does that have to do with the future of Christianity in America?
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.
- Thomas Jefferson
I talked with a teacher of mine he used to be a pastor then turned atheist and well he said it would die off here in america but it wont
be dead like there is no more christianity it would just be a small gathering like there is now really but maybe smaller and well yes it is dying here and secularism is growing but the fact is that churches like WBC and people who spread ignorance and hatred and their own teachings are the ones really now killing itself. The internet really did much to push it further science is a big one also well it was dying on its own those things just pushed it further into dying off.

Yeah I agree. It will be reduced to the level of silly superstition which people accept as an odd trait of a small number of people but which makes no impact on society.

I can't remember who it was who said he had no desire to entirely eliminate Christianity; he just wanted to see it have the same level of importance in the world as knitting.

Christianity is as useful as sand.

Sand has a heck of a lot of uses itself; it's an important component of computer chips.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
