I don't really get what he's suggesting here. How is a governor going to prevent marriage certificates from being handed out anyway?

It isn't that he can in reality, but long term religion holds back progress in equality and in science. You take this seriously as a long term issue not because of one person. On this issue look how long it took before even the first state allowed it. Same dragging of feet to allow interracial marriage. Not keeping an eye on religion is like leaving a camp fire unattended. How is a governor going to prevent marriage certificates from being handed out anyway? Well the government didn't even start handing out marriage certificates to anyone until the early 20th century. Before that it was a private contract or just a ceremony. So it's really hasn't been an issue for the state for all that long.
Saw him on TDS last night. Jon Stewart was making fun of him right to his face. It was priceless.
http://thedailyshow.cc.com/extended-inte...-interview I love Jon Stewart. If I were gay, I would have his Jewish babies.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Huckster is merely pandering to the shitheads of the republicunt base. For once I would like to see the moderates knock each other off and one fuckbrained conservatard get the nomination.
Then....we will find out exactly how stupid the 'murrican electorate really is. Does not matter, not even private businesses are allowed to discriminate at every level, otherwise businesses could still have blacks using separate entrances and separate bathrooms. Since the government DOES they cannot preclude gays from marrying.
Has Huck ever attempted to enforce an actual Christian stricture, like Mark 10:11 on, oh, let's say Rush Limbaugh ?
Newt Gingrich ? Chuck Norris ? John McCain ? Otta be a willing audience there, no ? Getting his own house in order should be pretty close to #1 on his to do list. Really....just think about Rick "The Walking Scrotum" Santorum at the top of the ticket with Michelle Bachmann.
Yes, 'murrica. Elections DO matter.
Huckabee is an idiot.
