Time to complain:

I'm going to visit my sister in early June(ish) and my mom decided she wanted to come with me, so what was a trip that would cost me a single plane ticket (I'd crash on my sister's floor) is now a plane ticket and a shared hotel room.

My mom doesn't want to stay in a hostel and she, ideally, wants to stay near my sister, which means Upper West Side, or at a minimum on the island of Manhattan. The problem is that Manhattan is fucking expensive and she doesn't want to pay $200 a night for a place she would deem "decent" and doesn't want to stay in a hostel, and I can't afford a $200/night hotel even if we split the cost.

She doesn't want to help me look for places to stay, she want me to do it and ask my sister for help (a sister who has two jobs and is going to school and doesn't exactly have time to hotel-search).

At this point we're either going to go to New York for a long weekend, which doesn't justify the price of the airline ticket, or we're there for a week but are out $1500-2000 for a hotel in addition to the cost of the airline ticket.

(And just for clarification, we can't stay with my sister; she is a live-in nanny and doesn't have room for two guests - I felt like I was pushing my lucky staying on her floor)

Color me annoyed.
