This is like looking at a pile of shit and registering a complaint about a single molecule. The following link is a nice summary with links to detailed history and examples of how fucked up these people are for those that have no idea of what's being discussed.

For anyone wondering what Atheism + is; this link will explain it.

I would be more willing to join a Catholic website than Atheism + which nearly ruined the community, thankfully Atheism + slowly died out, as the link shows, they attempted to enforce their personal political views onto Atheism and anyone who disagreed was ridiculed and harassed.

It wasn't just Atheism +; it's Social Justice Warriors in general.

I still don't understand what the problem is with being social justice warrior, after all, isn't social justice a good thing? I'm all for social justice and I've talked about it here in AF - How I think some people have it easier than others. Can someone explain me?

Equality between two sides is difficult to obtain as there will always be the overreachers trying to fill their observed gap.
That's why it's so important for everyone to push a little so individuals don't have to push a lot and overshoot their goal.

In theory, Social Justice sounds good. I was once an advocate for it, but as soon as I began to voice an opposing argument, I was verbally harassed, my personal details were threatened and ridiculed. From then on I learnt that Social Justice Warriors are vile; they have poisioned Feminism and tried to do the same for Gaming and Atheism. These people try to force politically correct thinking and lack an understand of actual matters.

These Social Justice Warriors, that clam to campaign for justice, often mis-construct words such as Feminism, Misogyny, etc and they will in any way possible try to silence opposition. Atheism + is an example, look at that link the previous user cited, it showed how they dealt with other Atheists who tried to offer an alternative view.

They still have a web site; people are still posting in the forum.

On the forum now, there are 12 users online and most users ever online was 136 for them.

Seems like they didn't take off the way they hoped to.

- Are you saying you don't care for social justice? When there's two sides fighting opposite causes likely there will be hate and disagreement. However, I doubt those people have really poisoned atheism and feminism and gaming, how many people in every of those communities agrees with such hardcore positions?

--> I think insulting people who don't agree with you is usually not wise if you want to get more support. If you ask me, atheists have more reasons, as skeptics, to be pro-social justice - Religion in particular is used and has been used to deny social justice and reinforce oppression to specific groups of people. "It is not natural to be gay", "God says women should be put in their place", "Rich people are gifted by god and poor people are lazy", etc. Being a skeptic means you probably will not believe people who bring bullshit excuses to oppress other groups

If these people are like the woman that said intercourse was always rape, then I really doubt there's even a remote possibility that most people will agree with it

I had never heard of them. Good for me, it seems.

Reading Cato's link brought back painful memories of the events of 2007 on the old Internet Infidels Discussion Board. I was so demoralized by that event, I gave up on the internet atheist community until now.

- I am saying that Social Justice Warriors are quite toxic, not Social Justice in itself. Social Justice Warriors claim to be morally superior and claim to fight for Social Justice, yet they harass people who disagree because they believe the ends justify the means. However awful those means may be.

The link Cato gave should summarize the facts and how intolerant they are. They completely ridiculed other Atheists who attempted to even merely post a contrasting argument. They would simply not tolerate it.

http://www.skepticink.com/avant-garde/20...-atheists/

These people were willing to threaten people's jobs just because they disagreed with them, despised people based on their age/colour/race and bullied people. This is not Social Justice, but the warriors who have become identified with it.

Also, in case you missed my edit, here is a video explaining Social Justice Warriors and how far they will go with threats (second video is about gaming):

RE: So did Atheism + bite the dust?
Just for clarity, this is what we mean when we say social justice warrior: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.ph...ce+warrior

Quote:A pejorative term for an individual who repeatedly and vehemently engages in arguments on social justice on the Internet, often in a shallow or not well-thought-out way, for the purpose of raising their own personal reputation. A social justice warrior, or SJW, does not necessarily strongly believe all that they say, or even care about the groups they are fighting on behalf of. They typically repeat points from whoever is the most popular blogger or commenter of the moment, hoping that they will "get SJ points" and become popular in return. They are very sure to adopt stances that are "correct" in their social circle.

The SJW's favorite activity of all is to dogpile. Their favorite websites to frequent are Livejournal and Tumblr. They do not have relevant favorite real-world places, because SJWs are primarily civil rights activists only online.
'The more I learn about people the more I like my dog'- Mark Twain

'You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways.' - Dr House

“Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science, 90% of living scientists and 98% of living biologists, all major university biology departments, every major science journal, the American Academy of Sciences, and every major science organization in the world, are all wrong regarding the origins and development of life….but one particular tribe of uneducated, bronze aged, goat herders got it exactly right.” - Chuck Easttom

"If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched.....You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. There is a limit." - Pope Francis on freedom of speech
