The average christian either has no idea what is in the OT, or if they do, they spend the whole time explaining why they don't have to follow any of it. They also seem to dismiss the "god" character entirely, as if jesus makes up for it all and god loves us now.

It's absolutely pathetic.

I'd love it if they just got rid of the OT, and a lot of christians say it "doesn't apply anymore". There are several problems here:

1) Original sin, the reason for jesus (or the ret-conned reason anyhow) is in the OT.
2) The 10 commandments (which they usually get wrong, and also hundreds of other stupid commandments) are in the OT.
3) Jesus explicitly says everything in the OT still applies.

So they are stuck with tap dancing around why god endorses slavery and barely punishes rape, and so on. And commands the slaughter of entire towns for no particular reason.

The NT is better, but still has plenty of horrible shit. Including the worst thing in the whole bible, the concept of hell. No hell in OT, god just kills you and you're done.

And menstruation is easy compared to keeping track of all the fabrics in clothing these days. Just put a sign on the door, and tell the bleeders to sit in the back ! Why they want to cherry pick on this matter is a puzzle, surely they know what a displeased God can do to them ?!?!?!?!?!
