There's nothing 'sacred' about marriage. It started as a pagan ritual. Aye!

Define Marriage

The other stupid thing, with any marriage is the stupid idea that a holy person is required to conduct the ceremony or sign the document as a witness. You only need a judge or a government approved person, ships captains sometimes do that too.
Let's say I start a religion, and in my religion only gay people can be married. People in my religion find it very offensive and un-sacred for straight couples to marry.
Should my opinions be similarly taken into account by people not of my religion? Feel free to send me a private message.

Both homosexuals and heterosexuals should have the same rights under secular law.
Fuck. I can't resist. No willpower.

I've never understood the sanctity of marriage argument when those that divorce and remarry are violating those tenants. It's very hypocritical to hold firm on some portions and ignore others. To me 2 people of the same gender who remain devoted and loyal to each other hold more true to the intended spirit of marriage than heterosexual individuals who do not hold true to their vows. |
