RE: Why is there gravity?

The "what and the how" are more important than the "why". There really is no ultimate reason for "all this", at least not one with a giant cognition causing it.
The universe was around before we existed, and it will go on fine without us when we go extinct an our planet dies. It sure is fun in the meantime to make the attempt to find answers to the unknown to get to the point of describing them in natural terms.
I wouldn't say gravity is always fun, certainly powerful, but would suck if the plane you are flying on at 40,000 feet loses power or flips over. The fall might not kill you but the sudden stop will.

Spherical geometry and flux is the main reason. Masses are a point source of gravity. In physics, we often consider forces as a field (giving a net effect, rather than calculating the effect from each source) the action of which is represented by field lines. Sources are drawn with field lines pointing radially outward. The number of field lines is proportional to the strength of the source. The flux of the source, which is effectively the number of field lines per unit area, must remain constant across any sphere centred at the source and since the surface area of a sphere is proportional to the radius squared, the flux must be inversely proportional to the radius squared.

Heisenberg uncertainty principle, Quantum Entanglement, strings, branes, multiverses!
I'm under the impression the best minds in the world still don't know what fuck is going on!

And you would be right.

There is gravity because gravity can be proven to exist.
Now shut the fuck up because god cannot be proven to exist as gravity can.

wrong ... only the effects of gravity can be measured... just as the effects of god can.
both can kill if used incorrectly.
both suck big time!
both exist throughout the universe
books have been written about both
both are still a mystery
etc.

What is the difference between Gravity and "Effects of Gravity"?

I can't imagine how weird things were before that King James guy invented gravity. I bet he wishes he'd put a patent on it now! And I suppose we needed gravity before anyone could work out how to evolve. So he kind of invented evolution too.
