Evidence God Exists

Thats what you consider big words!

Anyhoo Xenu is included in the pantheon of relevant gods eh.

In what is the difference manifested?

Personally I think some people look for meaning in their existance and will believe in any old shit.

Pretty much my take on all religions.

Now take this word antidisestablishmentarianism, now thats a big fucking word.

@Cap'n Scarlet- You wouldn't have to follow all religions, just believe in all gods. There is a difference between a religion and its god, and I find this is is common misconception among atheists(that is, connecting religion and god as not mutually exclusive, when they are.)

@donbeatplumb- Nah, I'm planning on being an English major in college, probably. I never said I didn't now the words, I'm just opposed to such obvious flaunting of said words, as if they somehow make you superior for knowing them. Wink

Yes, Xenu is included in the relevant gods category, but as I said it is much different from other religions' interpretations. He's pretty much the complete backwards idea of what a god is and serves basically as 'this is what God is NOT' in the list.

Xenu was only the galactic overlord, not a God at all. He wasn't even magic at all, he was simply the one responsible for sending rockets to Earth that were loaded with nuclear bombs. The rockets were targeted to land in volcanos. When they got there, they blew up, littering our world with frightened thetans (souls) of the people that were on the rockets. It was a plan to decrease surplus population on some of the planets that Xenu controled.

Then that would be my mistake, Xenu is not a god at all. He's just a science fiction story. Big Grin

Quote:Without further ado, here’s the evidence: Humans are the only species, out of millions of species, which have evolved into an intelligent life form. Other species live pretty much to eat and sleep -- survival. If our evolution were only a result of natural selection, shouldn’t other species, or even just one, have evolved into intelligent beings after millions of years? But the fact is that no other species have been able to develop science, literature, art, music and intelligent thought process as humans have. Isn’t this evidence that God exists?
Tata. There are many other unique animals. Platypuses are a mammal that lays eggs, does that mean anything? NO.

Wasnt flaunting, just using the words that best conveyed what I wanted to say, you know 'communicating effectively' and all that.

What is your objection to my use of long(ish) words when looking at your previous post you yourself used: misconception and mutually exclusive. Both reasonably long words/ phrases conveying complex meaning, or where you flaunting your college level english?

As for Xenu, seems he was an 'intergalactic dictator' which does seem like gods job description to me.

And what exactly have you "experienced"?
I've experienced the presence of God.
And how can you know that it was "the presence of God" and not something else?
When I said that I felt the presence of God, this was a blanket statement for several situations. It's not like I was standing on some beautiful mountain with dawn's golden sun and suddenly God's presence hit me. It's nothing corny like that. You asked me a question and I answered it as simply as I could.

But I have felt God was with me in several situations, especially when I've been in some trouble and I have prayed. How do I know it was God that I felt? I will answer you. I've confirmed that it was indeed God not only through my own experiences, but through the experiences of others. I'll give you some examples...

A few weeks ago my sister, her husband, her son and a pastor were traveling through a remote mountain. It started to rain and their car slid. It fell off a cliff and spun three times. All in the car were devout Christians, and they all prayed as the car spun down the cliff. All survived with no injuries.

I was watching Aftermath with William Shatner, and Jessica Lynch was his guest. In Iraq, she was in a Humvee with 11 other people when she got ambushed. During the skirmish, she was the only one that prayed for God to spare her life, and she was the only one out of 12 to survive.

A woman at my mother's church received a terrible back injury and was unable to walk. CAT scans revealed that disks were misaligned, and she could only walk with surgery. The entire church prayed for her, and the woman's condition improved greatly. She was able to walk, and surgery was no longer needed.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't ignore things like these. I haven't experienced anything as severe as the examples above, but I've been in situations in which I have felt that my prayers have made a difference. And that's how I know it was God.

My wife and I moved into our apartment with nothing but a TV, our clothes, and an electric blow up mattress. Now we have two nice chairs and a couch, lamps, coffe table, two tables for the kitchen and dining area, computer desk, two queen beds, 3 dressers, three TVs all of which were given or found. A few weeks ago my wife is walking by these two lava lamps at wal-mart and she says she wants one because she had one when she was younger. A few days later I find two brand new lava lamps still in the box just sitting by the dumpster. What the...?

2,752 people and their families beg to differ. And that's just for starters.

For every person you can give a "miraculous" result from prayer, I can give you 25 who aren't so fortunate-- including those who are Christian. I work in the ER and gawd ain't got nuthin' to do with it. I suppose you could cop out and say "well, THOSE people weren't true Christians," eh?

Why are you dismissing the existance of God because some horrid things are happening? Why are you making assumptions about a God that you dont even believe exists? What makes you think our God isnt the kind of person to allow such things?
