Has the thought occurred to you that your own behavior might have something to do with it? These folks accepted me with open arms when I started posting here last year. I didn't agree with several, over different issues, and that was with long-term, high-post-count members. But generally, I didn't come in swinging a purse.

Hello, I'm very sorry for your loss. Here is my logical opinion for what it's worth since that's what you asked for.
You didn't know she was going to die. That's impossible. You had a feeling that made you feel she would die, and I understand the feeling could make you feel certain even. But that's all it was, a feeling, and as has been pointed out you had a lot of information and maybe your subconcious came to a probabilistic conclusion on your behalf.
People have feelings things are going to happen all the time, and most of the time they don't happen and it gets forgotten. Every so often the feeling will match up, and it's then the attention is paid. It's called confirmation bias, only paying attention to the hits and ignoring all the misses.
So she may have died, she may not have. If she hadn't, I doubt you'd be in here asking us how you could have been wrong about the feeling. But you could have been wrong. It just so happens you weren't. So it's coincidence to an extent, but not a wild one, since you had a lot of information and her death was sadly on the cards anyway.
That is the most likely explanation in my opinion. Here's some more about confirmation bias:

There is no logical way to deduce it was anything else.

I'm really sorry for your loss, rsngfrce. That's a tough wound only time can heal.
As to your question, I wonder if you could recall any time where you felt she would die, and she didn't? Or if you could recall other close family members who have died that gave you know prior feeling at all? I would suggest weighing those instances along with this current one, and I think you'll see what everyone means by confirmation bias.
Or... you could just allow yourself to have this one, if it makes you feel better. That's what really matters here; finding some peace in a time of personal crisis.
Again, I'm sorry for your loss.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."
For context, this is the previous verse:

Actually, a not so amazing coincidence.
There are 7 billion people. Many of them have similar predictions to yours that don't come true. Out of the 7 billion, some small percent have their predictions come true, and they believe something extraordinary happened.
Statistically speaking, your experience is bound to happen. But since it happened to you, you put extra importance on it.
It has confirmation bias written all over it.
Sorry for your loss.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Wait... what? Did I say anything about owning the forum? Do object to the fact that we are a community here? That I pointed out that we are a community? I am sincerely confused as to what your issue is, here. I am no "elite user," and I don't claim to speak on behalf of the forum, but we are a community, and you are welcome to become a part of that community. You'll have to forgive me for not treating you as if you are right off the bat.
Did you give any thought as to what I actually said? You are pretty dismissive, and I don't have a habit of being overly kind to people who are immediately dismissive when they join. Would you rather I brushed aside your comment about how my response (the first response in this thread) was not good enough and proceeded to welcome you with open arms?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Although it MAY be possible that I didn't make my entrance to the forum in the most courteous way, though I would personally dispute that, I personally consider myself one of the most courteous forum users you can find. Please remember that my grandmother, who I had a very strong bond with, which as a logical person I do not form easily died yesterday...
I completely accept the fact that what I am suggesting is impossible, that is why I have a problem with it! My first post may have been lacking in details, but additional details would not have convinced any of you of ANY possibility of truth to what I am saying, but those details are what caused the difficulty FOR ME...

What "truth" are you talking about? "The truth of what I am saying". What is that? You've used that phrase multiple times now and I have no idea what that means.
Is it true that you experienced something strange that made you feel uneasy or unsure or uncertain? Sure, I have no reason to doubt that and it happens all the time to people.
What exactly are you asking for? The most reasonable "explanation" for your experience could simply be "we don't have an explanation."

Please refer to my post #37. I found your response to be overly dismissive, despite my admitted lack of detail, which I felt would have been pointless to include. Some users have posted very helpful responses. Some have chosen to attack me for reasons I fail to understand. What I am suggesting is not possible, I completely understand that, that is why it is such a problem for me!
I wish to thank the following users for their helpful responses: Cato, Walllym, Homeless Nutter, Brian37, Minamalist, Abaris, Aroura, Robvalue, Exian and Simon Moon.
To the of you who have chosen, for reasons I fail to understand, to attack me, you can have YOUR forum back. My fucking grandmother died yesterday, who I had a very special bond with and as a logical person, I do not form attachments easily. Since account deletions are no longer performed, I now log out and will not be logging back in. I feel SO PROUD to be an Atheist right now!

At least he is glad to be an Atheist.
Well if he didn't leave I was going to tell him what caused it but oh fucking well.
