Is Apostasy worth it?

Also, you are an apostate already, according to Catechism, just by the "religious views" next to your avatar.  Even if you sent them a letter declaring your lack of belief, they'd probably still pad their numbers with you anyway, so what's the point?

This girl is fictional XD I'm just giving an example of a possible situation

Might seem like nitpicking but I don't think something like this would be enough. Since we don't actually know who OP is how can we be "scandalized' by his sin? Now if it was his Facebook page that might do it.

I know, silly details. Also you're right about the padding, that's standard practice. Even if you're excommunicated formally by the leadership they keep your records.

Hahaha! I know I'm not "scandalized", so you've definitely got a point there. We do have Catholics on the forum (as you know), though. Does it count if they're scandalized?

"Causing the little ones to stumble" (a.k.a possibly weakening their faith)? It certainly would be a big sin, but it wouldn't be the public formal repudation required for apostasy

How do they know who to burn otherwise? Smile

Would it be worth knowing that her love halts at the walls of a building which won't admit you?  Yeah, I'd say that's worth something. I suppose, once you know, you'd have to decide whether or not she's still worth handing the man at the gates your coin.

Well, if it's a fictional scenario, then, yeah, it's worth it. There are plenty of women out there, and if, by chance, the one you are in love with needs to be married in a catholic church, then she really is more interested in her god than you. So, fuck that shit.
