If I'm up just one hour later than I was the previous night, which is usually the case if not more, then I won't even hear them go off. I don't think I have insomnia, but I do usually stay up later than the night before. If I get into that sleepy but alert stage, that's when I have trouble falling asleep the most. At that point, I'll just give up and pull an all-nighter, even if I have like 8 hours before work.

How much sleep do you need to get by? Have you tried any OTC meds to help you drift off a little easier? If so, maybe you could get your doctor to write you a script for something. There are a few non-habit forming Rx meds that could help.

I can get by on little sleep if I can wake up. Once I'm up, I'm up. The only thing I've tried is Zzz-quil for about a week, and that helped me fall asleep faster (not by much) but made waking up even harder. I haven't tried anything else though. Have you had any luck with any sleep aids?
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Um. I just took my Rx medication over an hour ago along with 10 mg of melatonin. And here I am at 2:46am, talking to my friend, the duck. Undecided

I would suggest that you make an appt to see a physician in a few weeks. In the meantime you could try melatonin (do NOT start at 10mg) or Unisom OTC. Make certain you pick up Unisom tabs, the active ingredient is Doxylamine succinate. Other Unisom pills contain diphenhydramine, which is Benedryl

If those don't work, go visit the Doc and see what he comes up with along with your input.

RE: Trouble waking up
Sorry to hear of your troubles, that must be very frustrating. I absolutely hate having to wake up and get out of bed before I feel ready. And when there's a set time I need to get up at, I can pretty much guarantee I won't feel ready no matter what I do.

I did what some have suggested, I got an alarm clock that made the noise of a motorbike and placed it the other side of the room. It did the trick! The experience is horrible, but once you're out of that bed, at least it's done.

RE: Trouble waking up
It's like I tell the wife:

The best part of waking up, is peeing in your butt.
I would more generally advocate that one only leave one entrance into their mind(reason), and keep the rest of it rather closed, as it is one hell of a lot easier to shovel shit in than it is to get it out.

If the evidence and reason for you to believe something isn't really any better than the reason you should believe some rural farmer from Arkansas got anally probed by interstellar visitors, then you probably shouldn't.

Haha Goddammit! I had a buddy tell me a story back when we were in middle school. He and a neighbor girl were like 10-11 and they wanted to try to have sex, but neither of them knew what to do. The girl was fairly certain that the boy was supposed to pee on the girls butt (a close assumption). So I asked my buddy what he did- he shrugged and said "I peed on her butt." We teased him pretty good about that.

Well, time-honored tradition and all, some people pay extra for that...

RE: Trouble waking up
I've had this problem in the past, I'm terrible at waking up. It got a bit better though. It usually depends on my overall mood, too.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Psalm 14, KJV revised edition
