Hi, Cherry, hope you'll stick around. We'd hate to lose you. Wink
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Welcome Cherry. There are science discussions here. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Welcome

Welcome Cherry! Glad to have ya. Smile
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Mmm... Cherry on top...

Sorry, what were we saying?

RE: Hi, I'm a newbie!
Welcome!

Aussies seem to me like the cooler cousins of us Americans, at least from my interactions with them on various forums like this. You have the same type of crazy fundamentalist nutjobs we do, virtually indistinguishable from ours except by accent, and the same type of cool, laid-back skeptical types... except your proportions of each are reversed from ours. We're drowning in fundamentalist nutjobs, over here!

Glad you're here, and hope you stick around. We definitely love talking about science. Smile
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Welcome!  I hope you enjoy it here.

Since you like science, you might enjoy some threads on science by Alex K, such as:

First collisions at the LHC with unprecedented Energy! (Ask a particle physisicist)

He has a Ph.D. (or the German equivalent) in physics and does a good job of explaining things in terms that are relatively understandable, while avoiding falsehoods from oversimplifications.  His English is superb, though if you prefer explanations in German, he can do that as well.
