You convinced me. You stick to jesus and all the rest of the shit. Leave reality to those of us who can handle it.
I hope you compose better than most of the shit being written today. RE: What good is atheism?

Sure, seeing if certain thoughts correlate with certain brain signals is something that could be tested. How would you identify an optimistic thought, for example? Would you ask someone to think optimistically? Or would you identify responses in the brain that correspond to optimistic thought? It seems likely that optimistic thoughts would make you feel good, and probably vice versa. I think it's fair to say that ultimately we are motivated by what feels good to us, but I'm still unclear on why this is a problem. We are organic computers ultimately, so it would seem. That's just the reality of the situation. Feel free to send me a private message.

Atheism, as far as I can tell, is just rejecting a concept that appears to be untrue.
You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.
Your first 4 points seem to be a case for the benefits of skepticism and critical thinking in general, not atheism specifically.
Why would you expect to get benefits from atheism? Atheism is not a world view, has no doctrine, no dogma, or any other attribute that promises a benefit. Atheism is a single response to a single claim. Theists claim at least one god exists, atheists disbelieve that claim. Full stop. Anything beyond the disbelief in the god claim is not within the purview of atheism. You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
Haven't they already banned you from here as well, Mozart? You just don't learn do you?

What good is atheism? Nothing, other than being an inevitable conclusion if one actually does reflect. It has no obvious purpose like a toilet bowl.
Atheism doesn't have to be good to be the better choice. All it takes is to do less damage than religion, easily accomplished by simply doing nothing.
That said, I wish there were more secular social programs.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!
OP: You come off as mind-bendingly selfish and self-absorbed. All through your post runs the sentiment 'If atheism doesn't benefit me, then atheism has no value.'
Best of luck with that. Boru
